  • We're having a TRUE Spring!

For the first time in years, and, praise be to God, I'm actually getting OUTSIDE to enjoy some of it.

Yesterday, after my compression/lymphedema therapy, Penny and I went to Tony's Delicatessen and got sandwiches and pasta salad and, well, cookies from Joanna's Bakery (you'd have to go to Tony's to see how impossible it can be to resist that cookie display) and we took our little picnic to Brandon Park and sat on a bench for an hour or so to enjoy the lovely weather and the beautiful trees and bushes. And to annoy the lawnmowing team, who really, REALLY wanted to mow where we were.

    He did.  Eventually.

It was really lovely. But there are only so many photos one can get without walking around, but even from my limited vantage point, it was so pretty.

Penny and I took photos of one another, but in Penny's she looks mean because she's looking toward the sun, for one thing, and for another, she'd just taken a bite of something and was trying to look like she hadn't.

And in mine, I look stoned. Mind, technically I was - 2 Tylenol 3 with Codeine before the treatment to ease the pain of compression on those tumors. So we'll pass on the loopy look.

Being out like that was a gift to me.  Thank you, Lord.

  • Sounded yummy and looked gorgeous!!

  • Tumors?!! Oh Cindy!! I hope you're feeling better!! I'm amazed that you were even still awake after taking tylenol with codeine!! (I didn't know you were sick!!, I hope that you are well soon)

  • Cheri, I have a chronic illness in which tumors (benign, thankfully) form on nerve endings. I have at least 250 tumors to date. They are painful, though, and cause other problems, like the lymphoma. I've spent most of this past winter in bed due to the lymphoma. The condition (Dercum's disease) doesn't have a cure or even a treatment. Just treatment for various symptoms. I'm disabled but thankful that I can do a lot of stuff and have a very supportive family.

    :)

  • Cindy, I am glad to hear that they are benign, but I hope that eventually (read soon) a treatment or cure can be found. I can tell by your pictures here and your entries that you have a very very wonderful family.

  • Cheri,

Thanks. My family IS wonderful. I also have a great collection of friends and a supportive pastor, and two doctors who are terrific, AND they're believers. :)

It's fun getting to know you.
