  • Too good not to share

When Jason & Tiana went to Minnesota for the holidays, Tiana's family sat for a family portrait, the kids' gift to Tiana's parents.  (Kids being Tiana and her brother, Phil and their spouses, Jason & Dara.)

I made bold and asked for a 5x7 for our photo wall in the hall.  I finally have a day where I can post it.  :)

It really is a terrific likeness of all of them.  Tiana & Jason at the back on the left, with Dara & Phil on the right, and Fred and a very proud Alaine holding the other new addition to the family, Phil & Dara's baby Kale.  (Jason & Tiana call him "Garnish," irreverent souls that they are!)  He's adorable, although I think Grandma must have frightened him just as this shot was taken - he looks a bit scared, don't you think?  I've seen many photos of this little guy and he doesn't always look scared.  :)

Fred and Alaine, and indeed, their entire extended families, have welcomed Jason into their midst with such warmth and openness, it gives Faron and me great joy.  It's what parents want for their kids when they marry, but don't always get.  We have been blessed in our son's inlaws and we're thankful!

  • A beard definitely looks good on Jason! You're right, it's a keeper!

His dad's got a beard these days, too. Like many men with red hair, his beard is almost completely white while his hair is more brown.

Actually, he only ever had a red beard - carrot red, with dishwater blond hair. My brother-in-law, Hazel's husband, Denny, was a redhead, and he had a brown beard. When they both had beards and were together, they looked like someone mixed up their puzzle pieces! :)

Jason takes care of his beard well, so it does look good. Of course, I'm biased. I think he always looks good!

  • When I saw the photo of Jason, I took a second look. He reminds me of my dear grandson, Levi. I will get his photo one of these days and post it on my blog. I think it is the beard, which I love, is the connection.

  • I'm glad he has a REAL beard and not a five day growth of wussy fuzz. If you're going to grow a beard, do it like a man and not some perfumed gigolo from GQ! And now I'll tell you how I REALLY feel....!

  • Lovely picture.  And Kale was just taking the whole "family picture" thing seriously, as well he should have.

Nah, I go for the "Grandma's scaring me!" outlook.

You were not quite clear, E - a real man?

Faron & Jason both had full beards - nearly as full as now - by the time they were each about 12 years old - daily shaving or they looked like Bluto, especially Jason with that black beard. He hated it.
